Like many local authorities, Mechelen was faced with outdated infrastructure, long waiting lists for swimming lessons and limited scope for investment. Demand for swimming facilities is growing, but building an indoor swimming pool takes years.
There was a need for additional capacity in the short term – close to schools, clubs and local residents.
Swimwise Pools supplied four moveable swimming pools – three 25-metre Swimclad pools and one double 25-metre Swimclad pool – to strategic sports and leisure venues. This brings the swimming pool to the local residents, rather than the other way round.
Capacity that you can expand in a modular way, temporarily reallocate or scale up in phases – tailored to local needs.
Energy-efficient and thermally insulated, with changing rooms and toilet facilities. Natural swimming water, with no chlorine in the pool itself.
No years of construction, but completion in a matter of days. The first pool is set to open as early as September – providing immediate extra capacity.
The four pools immediately provide additional swimming water in the areas where demand is highest – as a flexible interim solution whilst Mechelen works on long-term plans.
Schools will once again have easy access to swimming waters and shorter waiting times.
